Great Victoria Desert 12 Day Adventure – Extended & More Remote

Come with us on a journey to Australia’s prettiest desert as we go more remote, for longer on a extended pilgrimage into the Western Great Victoria Desert. 

Our 2025 adventure will venture deep into the Great Victoria Desert’s Western extremes and be an extended touring adventure that incorperates a remote passage along the Hann Track, named after iconic early explorer Frank Hann & following in his footsteps through this Western expanse of the Great Victoria Desert. 

Firstly we will enter the desert via the Trans Access road cutting the desert through old tracks as the Gimlets turn into Marble Gums & venturing through old sandalwood camps to the remote Plumridge Lakes region. Heading North toward the Anne Beadell Highway we will shift our travelling to our most Eastern destination of Ilkurlka roadhouse for a great night of camping & exploring the arts centre. Journeying back to the West will involve us heading toward the Yeo Homestead in the Serpentine Lakes district.  Our next move out to the very remote Hann Track, linking areas this prominent early explorer traversed on his pioneering expeditions through this country. After completing this portion of our adventure will be to head to the North along the  Connie Sue Hwy in the tyre tracks of Len Beadel,  toward the settlement of Warburton. From here we will be returning to the West  onto Tjukayirla roadhouse. We have some great spots nearby to share –  From here we will journey up the David Carnegie Road to Empress Spring, before moving North to the edge of the Gibson Desert on the Old Gunbarrel Highway at the Mungilil Claypans. From here we travel back West toward Wiluna. 

We’ll be visiting various points of interest along the way, including indigenous  art sites & soaking up the desert air. Remote bush camping under a blanket of starts is a nightly occourance, with access to fire for cooking & warmth planned nightly.  Please note these will all be bush camping with exception of Ilkurlka  & generally we will aim to make camp in the later afternoon with plenty of available light. A group campfire of an evening will be a regular feature. 

If a bit of isolation & remote touring ticks your box, this trip will impress at a fantastic time of year for travel to the desert interior after previous seasons of record breaking rainfall. 

The trip will include costs for our professional fee’s for this supported journey into the desert lands, procurement of your permit(s) as required & camp fee’s at Ilkurlka roadhouse & showering at Tjukuyirla roadhouse.

We will also take part in a cooking share night on this journey – More info provided in the lead up.

**This is a remote area adventure**

• Vehicle must be inspected by a reputable mechanic prior to attending
• Any vehicle specific tools should be carried including basic spares
• Fuses for fridges & two way radios & battery management systems should be carried.
• We will run through a remote pre trip assessment with you at time of enquiry to ensure your preparedness & suitability.

You will need to be self sufficient on this adventure; please note:

• Diesel is available at Kalgoorlie  Ilkurlka & Tjukuyirla Roadhouse.
• Opal is available by arrangement at Ilkurlka & Tjukulyirla Roadhouse
• Basic supplies are available at both Roadhouses
• Showers & water are available at both Roadhouses.
• No other facilities, or services are available between the start & finish of our trip.
• Fuel Range required will be 600km.
• Total Distance – Kalgoorlie to Wiluna (Estimated) will be 1200KM  depending on our exact route.
